Links

These are some of the photography sites I visit regularly (and a couple to avoid).

http://petapixel.com/ – Photography news, tips, tutorials, and galleries.

http://app.photoephemeris.com

https://www.youtube.com/user/PhotoProTips – Excellent (and funny) free tutorials on landscape photography and Lightroom and Photoshop with Joshua Cripps.

http://digital-photography-school.com/ – A wide range of tips and tutorials on all kinds of photography and post processing.

(500px.com – This site is no longer run by photographers, it’s run by a venture capitalist, and it shows. I really wanted to like this site but it’s become entirely about profit and photographers are just a means to that end. Instagram, Flickr, SmugMug, Zenfolio and EmEye are all better places to show your work as a photographer.)

http://iconosquare.com/ – As of December 1, 2015 the useful sections of the site will no longer be free. Collects all kinds of useful info about your Instagram account and tells you when to post to get the best response, what filters and tags are working all for free.

The best alternative to Iconosquare is Websta.me – It’s free and provides almost the same information that’s updated daily.

https://fstoppers.com/ – Some interesting articles and tutorials. Their news and reviews seem heavily biased towards their sponsors (they haven’t written anything about the B&H Photo discrimination lawsuits)

http://www.lonelyspeck.com/ – Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about astrophotography. An awesome site run by Ian Norman that has tons of free tutorials, gear reviews and online tools. It’s not a daily updater, but every new review and tutorial is informative, easy to understand and well produced.
